Privacy policy
Ubuntu Rewards respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to align with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Ubuntu Rewards is a member-facing grocery rewards programme offered through group schemes, employers, insurers, funeral providers, unions and membership organisations. The grocery rewards platform is operated by Harmony Rewards.
What we collect on this website
- Details you choose to give us in an enquiry — your name, organisation, email address, mobile number, approximate member numbers and your message.
- Basic technical information your browser sends when you visit, such as your device type and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site working and secure.
The enquiry form on this site opens your own email application with the details you entered. Nothing is stored on this website — the message is sent from your email account to ours, exactly as you see it before you press send.
What we do not collect here
This website does not hold member records, benefit balances or redemption history. When you tap Access my rewards you leave this site and enter the Harmony Rewards platform, which handles member sign-in and reward data under its own terms and privacy practices.
Why we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, discuss activating Ubuntu Rewards for your organisation.
- To provide member support where you have asked for help accessing your benefit.
- To meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is necessary to run the programme — for example with Harmony Rewards as the platform operator, or with your group scheme where your query relates to your membership. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for unrelated marketing.
How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is kept only for as long as it is needed to deal with your query and to meet our record-keeping obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete information where we have no lawful reason to keep it.
- Object to how we are using your information.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
